One guess would be that no company wants to slap ads near a vibrant discussion - not a good place to sell lies.

Really? Is there any large discussion forum that doesn't have ads? Reddit, SomethingAwful, they all make their income slapping ads near discussions.



reddit just proves the point , huge traffic , bad monetization.
