What's the gain over discrete GPUs in a desktop, where space and power are not at a premium the way they are in a laptop?


Omitting a bottleneck like the PCIe bus between the CPU and GPU makes memory sharing between the two much more viable. This allows a totally different kind of offloading of work from the CPU.
